University of Westminster - Phase 1 nears completion

'Student Courtyard'  linking existing buildings - under construction August 21st 2012

The first phase is due to open in September 2012. It includes a new Main Reception and Forum or  'Student Courtyard Area'. The new building links existing buildings and at the same time creates new learning spaces, project rooms and performance areas for the campus. As Phase 1 nears completion, the new addition (shown here) gives a positive and exciting glimpse to the future for the Harrow Campus. Hawkin\Brown's design adds an impressive modern feel to a campus that is in need of cheering up.

Summer 2012 - One to remember...

Orbit, Olympic Park, captured 3rd August 2012
Its been a wonderful summer so far, Royal Academy Summer Show, Solo Exhibition, The Olympics, Camping and its still only August... I hope you are all having a happy one.

“I wanted the sensation of instability, something that was continually in movement. Traditionally a tower is pyramidal in structure, but we have done quite the opposite, we have a flowing, coiling form that changes as you walk around it. … It is an object that cannot be perceived as having a singular image, from any one perspective. You need to journey round the object, and through it. Like a Tower of Babel, it requires real participation from the public” — Anish Kapoor

“There is a kind of medieval sense to it of reaching up to the sky, building the impossible. A procession, if you like. It's a long winding spiral: a folly that aspires to go even above the clouds and has something mythic about it.” — Anish Kapoor

Olympic print

London Reflections, E15 1xq, 2009
(Stratford)

‘Reflections’
‘Reflections’ explore the landscape around the city of London. The concept for the project was developed after I was asked to consider a commission, to produce 16 landscape photographs, to be hung in a city law firms head office - meeting rooms. I decided to create a set of images that would tell a story about the streets that could be seen from their building. My intention was to inform the user and visitor of the building, to both small nuances and indeed historic fact. The series developed and became a sequence of mirror images of what the viewer could see, looking out of the window where it was hung, and hence the title ‘Reflections’ was conceived.
Each photograph in the series is layered with commonalities and the viewer has the option to approach the photographs from various perspectives; perhaps as a single image or the project as a whole.
Each photograph is titled with the postcode from where it was shot and each photograph is accompanied with a small piece of text exposing a piece of history or fact about the location of where the shot was captured.
The image shown here is  shot in Stratford exactly 1271 days before the opening of The Olympics - the timeline was an important part of the image as London prepared for one of the largest sports events in the world.

Each image from the series is available as a Limit Edition Print in 2 sizes

1) 750 x 597mm (24' x 18') of an edition of 9
2) 1379 x 1074mm (48' x 36') of an edition of 3
